Raw Material Company, a mobile site for art practice and critical exchange, is founded in 2008 in Dakar, Senegal, by three women curators. Until 2010 it carried an independent programme Raw Base Resource Centre for Contemporary Art Practice, an independent resource centre for archiving of contemporary art practice with a focus on African art. It aims at establishing an alternative education and research facility for art, media and politics.
