Más Arte Más Acción (Colombia) organizes exchange programme between African and Latin-American artists
Individuals and organisations from Africa are invited to contact Más Arte Más Acción to discuss ideas for potential projects before 15 September 2011.
Colombia’s Más Arte Más Acción is currently developing partnerships with organisations in Africa. From April 2012 two projects will take place each year with participants from African countries invited to stay at the organisation’s base designed by renowned Dutch artist Joep van Lieshout in the remote Colombian Pacific rainforest of Chocó. This extraordinary base will provide a platform for participants to reflect on important environmental and social themes.
Underpinning the programme is our aim to create and strengthen links between organisations and audiences in Africa and Latin America. By working together participating organisations and projects will achieve greater presence. We want to explore new ways for artists, writers and thinkers to work together and share their ideas, knowledge and experiences from southern hemisphere perspectives.
Programme
The selected projects and participants will be awarded funds to cover all aspects of the visit, both in Chocó and then followed by an opportunity to extend their time at Lugar a Dudas in Cali or Casa Tres Patios in Medellin.
The first stage provides a base for reflection on cultural, artistic, environmental and development issues. It offers a unique opportunity for participants to encounter local people and Chocó’s untouched natural environment whilst staying in Chocó. Given its remote setting, this base will give participants an opportunity to reflect, research and think rather than offer technical production facilities.
The second stage in Cali or Medellin will offer an opportunity to engage with the cultural and artistic communities and production facilities as well as a platform to share outputs and ideas with audiences. The projects will be documented using video and photography.
Individuals and organisations from Africa are invited to please contact us to discuss ideas for potential projects. Organisations currently funded by Arts Collaboratory are particularly welcome. If you would like to explore ways of being involved please contact: info@masartemasaccion.org By 15th September 2011. We look forward to hearing from you!
