Maria Kint, is the Founder and Director of the Cultural Development Trust in Johannesburg, an organisations specializing in Arts and Culture Management and Cultural Entrepreneurship Training and Service Assistance to emerging and established artists and organisations.
She has been working in the field of Arts & Culture Management in Southern Africa for the last 20 years. She was part of the Actag (Arts & Culture Task Group) process in 1993 and closely participated in the change of S.A. into a democracy. She started her professional life in the banking sector as a Bank Manager for 14 years, but made her hobby into her professional focus when she started working as a Manager/Consultant in the music field since 1988, first in the Netherlands, since 1990 in South Africa. In the Netherlands she was instrumental in setting up a Diploma in Cultural Management for Post Graduate students in the Arts.
In South Africa she started working at Moving into Dance Mophatong, seeing it grow from employing1 to 25 people and to an internationally recognised Contemporary Dance Company and Training Institute. She trained all of the office and management staff before setting up the Cultural Development Trust responding to the need of artists that had an abundance of talent but no management skills.
Maria was one of the founding members of the global network United Cultures for Development based on working towards supporting the MDG’s through Creative Entrepreneurship.
She received a Special Life Long Service Acknowledgement from the FNB Dance Umbrella in 2004. She was amongst the top 100 of influential people recognized by The Star Newspaper in 2007. She ranked number 8 under the Arts Category.
